Vegan Gyoza/Dumplings | HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN



MAKE YOUR OWN DUMPLINGS!! These are so good, I’m so excited to share this recipe with you all πŸ™‚ I hope you love it too!

I always put dumplings in the category of “things that are mysterious and I will never make myself”. Then, one day, I had a craving for dumplings and no way to get them. So I decided to make them myself. They came out awesome, just like the ones I get at restaurants! I hope you love them too.

INGREDIENTS
Wrappers:
2 cups flour
1/2 cup warm water

Filling:
1 green onion, chopped
1/2 cup cabbage (mine was a cabbage/carrot mix
1/4 block of tofu (about 1/2 cup cubed)
3 mushrooms
1 tsp ginger
garlic (if you want… I would suggest 1-2 cloves)

DIRECTIONS
Add the water to the flour and mix until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 10 minutes until it becomes stiff. Cut it into 8 sections. Roll out each section fairly thin, but not so thin that it rips when you pick it up. Use a glass to cut a circle out of the dough. Do this until all the dough is gone. Spoon 1-2 tsp of filling into the left side of the centre of each circle. Fold the circle in half over the filling and pinch the edges to seal it. Do this for the rest of the dumplings. Place them in a steamer on top of a bed of cabbage or lettuce (to prevent them from sticking… they don’t call them ‘potstickers’ for nothing!). Steam them for 15 minutes. You can eat them like this, or pan fry them in 1 tsp of oil for 2-3 minutes per side to get them crisp.

Make a dippping sauce of 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp maple syrup and 1/2 tbsp lime juice. Enjoy!
